Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shipcheck, remove, fabricate, install weld and test various brackets and foundations for equipment.
  • Validate dimensions on drawings, determine deck and bulkhead materials, and determine best removal and installation route during a ship-check.

  • Use various hand tools, drill press, welding machines, air compressor, generator, chain hoist, sandblaster, paint gun, grinder, forklift and other equipment to fabricate/install and mount equipment.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and instructions.

  • Knowledgeable and trained in safe work practices.

  • Will support mechanical and structural disciplines.

  • Assist in jobsite set-up, maintenance, restoration, and securing.

  • Prepare and cleanup work area.

  • Identify tools and materials per task and request materials as needed.



Job Requirements

  • 5 (+) years of consistent experience as a Welder/ Shipfitter.
  • Journeyman or equivalent Navy training.
  • Qualify in Aluminum, Steel and Stainless in the Six G position.
  • Competence with TIG Welding Aluminum is of utmost importance.
  • Competence with GTAW, SMAW and GMAW welding processes.
