    Perform facets of journalistic writing styles and support communication initiatives for the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Port Hueneme Division. Research, organize, develop, format, analyze, and edit documentation to provide written products such as magazine/newspaper articles, talking points, statements, speeches for senior leadership, presentations, website material, operations, news releases, and other materials for publication or posting electronically. Select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material. Represent customer at meetings, conferences, committees and with external organizations. Identify opportunities for positive media coverage. Develop, review, and analyze command communication plans. Identify necessary resources and submit recommendations for customer final approval.



    • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, or English and 2-3 years’ related work experience, OR
    • High School Diploma/GED and 5-6 years of related work experience
    • Understanding of the work done at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Port Hueneme Division
    • Above average working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
    • Strong grammar, spelling, and overall writing skills to communicate complex technical and/or Navy/Public policy issues
    • Knowledge of Navy formats and the Navy Correspondence Manual.

    Additional Requirements:

    • U.S. Citizenship Required
    • Active/Interim or Renewable DoD Secret Clearance
