    Career Opportunity

    We are currently seeking candidates for a Security System Engineer/Specialist position, located in our Wallops Island, Virginia station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island, VA requires support for IT engineering, operation, and technical expertise in support of equipment, systems and computer programs in support of the Navy warfighter.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintains information systems security compliance in a research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) environment.
    • Works with the RDT&E environment using multiple independent networks and collaborates with frequent configuration changes.
    • Researches solutions integrates new technology to fulfill program requirements is routine.
    • Produces and delivers written and oral presentations

     

    Travel

    This position includes a low level of travel.

     

    Education and Experience

    A high school diploma or GED equivalent and a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Cyber Security with three years of relative experience; or a Master of Science or Arts degree with one year of relevant experience. Relevant experience: DIACAP process, system analysis, system audits, CISCO iOS, MS Window/Server, LINUX, network and system monitoring tools, IA compliance models and tools, IA control validation, risk management, incident response, and system security officer responsibilities. Within the period of relevant experience, must have a minimum of two years working in Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E).

     

     

    Candidates must possess five years of directly related experience engineering and securing DoD systems, minimum certification as IAT or IAM Level II and OS or networking certification per DoD 8570.01-M, demonstrated experience with computer security, military system specifications, DoD IA policies, network and systems configuration and administration, demonstrated experience in the DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation Process (DIACAP), Platform IT (PIT), and the implementation of Cyber Security and IA boundary defense techniques and various IA-enabled appliances.

     

    Qualifications

    • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
    • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
    • Must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly in written and oral presentations
    • Must be able to provide documentation of training in a currently supported version of a Microsoft Server, Linux, or Cisco operating system. In lieu of documentation, must be willing to complete operating system training using a company supplied training solution within the first 30 days of employment.
    • Although work is typically performed between the hours of 7AM and 5PM, M-F, the successful candidate must be willing to work varied shifts and weekends on occasion to fulfill the client’s mission requirements.  
    • Knowledge of SCSC or prior work experience within the Wallops Island command.
    • Prior experience with one or more of the following is desired: Automated Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Host Based Security System (HBSS), implementation and auditing of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), Security Event and Information Management (SEIM) tools, patch management systems, network firewalls, network intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
    • Prior experience with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registration

    Must possess one of the following certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH. The successful candidate must agree to maintain their certification in accordance with the respective accrediting organization’s requirements.
