    Career Opportunity

    We are currently seeking candidates for an AEGIS Technical Operator/Trainer position, located in our Wallops Island, Virginia station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island, VA requires support for IT engineering, operation, and technical expertise in support of equipment, systems and computer programs in support of the Navy warfighter.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Sets up for mission events.
    • Setup for mission events involves coordination with SCSC’s customer(s), Combat Systems, and Operations departments to identify event equipment and computer program configuration, obtain computer programs and electronic data from the Technical Library or electronic load management system, installation of computer programs, loading of computers and energizing equipment in accordance with procedures, establishment of interface switch paths, performing system checkout, and other site preparations necessary to ensure the readiness of the requested systems and equipment to support a successful mission event.
    • Collect system recorded data during the event.
    • Response to customer issues during the event.
    • Perform systematic take down at the completion of the mission event.
    • Sets up combat systems for events as per event run sheet and provide technical support during events.
    • Provides comprehensive readiness, preventive and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting support at the equipment and system level and restoration of equipment and systems to design specifications for all combat system facilities at SCSC.
    • Provides on-the-job training to the Navy members of the integrated maintenance team and computer operators.
    • Plans and schedules maintenance to minimize systems and equipment downtime to maximize mission support, while still maintaining high system availability and also meeting planned maintenance schedules.
    • Promptly reports to the Government the status of systems and equipment that are not functioning properly and have the potential to impact customer events.

     

     

    Travel

    This position includes a low level of travel.

     

    Education and Experience

    A high school diploma or GED equivalent and a Bachelor’s Degree.

    • Candidates must have ten years of experience onboard an AEGIS Platform, with a minimum of four years (may be concurrent) as an AEGIS Combat Systems Manager (CSMM) leading a team of technical/tactical operators engaged in the employment of Surface Weapon Systems in the support of Surface, Subsurface, Air, Strike, C4I, and Ballistic Missile Defense warfare areas as part of the Combat System Training Team (CSTT)
    • Candidates must have three years of technical experience, specifically on AEGIS Baseline 5.3.9, 6.3, 7.1, 8.0 or any variant of BL 9 responsible for the CSMM organization and with the technical knowledge to bring combat systems up from cold iron status to support testing
    • Experience working in an RDT&E environment is preferred
    • Knowledge and experience with ACCESS and TRMS is preferred

    Qualifications

    • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
    • Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
