Career Opportunity

We are seeking candidates for a SPY Technician position at our Wallops Island, Virginia, station. This position is a part of our CSS contract supporting the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island. SCSC requires support for IT engineering, operation, and technical expertise in supporting equipment, systems, and computer programs for the Navy warfighter. SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate, and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide preventative and corrective maintenance in accordance with the Navy Maintenance Material Management (3M) system utilizing SKED with the goal of maintaining AN/SPY-1(V) to shipboard standards.
• Operate and adjust mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Operate test equipment and record data.
• Configure, initialize, and maintain the AN/SPY-1(V) Radar systems and associated Signal Processors at Surface Combat Systems Center Wallops Island.
• Other duties as assigned. 

Travel

• This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing tactical equipment related to SPY-1A or B/D or D(V) or other SPY Radar Systems.

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

• Certified as Maintenance Person in accordance with NAVEDTRA 43241-K Naval Education and Training Command Personnel Qualification Standard for 3M or the ability to become certified within a 3-month period.

Qualifications

• An Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired; however, candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain one will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. Once an interim Secret clearance is granted, a start date will be scheduled.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations.
• Must be willing to work varying shifts and weekends as required.
• Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor and/or manager when not in the office.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to frequently traverse stairs.
• Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
• Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to wear a safety harness, climb vertical ladders, and work on elevated platforms greater than 20 feet in height.
